A series of farm to table events, taste of appalachia will be hosted this summer across the tri-cities & Mountain empire!

Premier area chefs & business owners who are dedicated to buying from local farmers will be giving cooking demonstrations at area farmers markets, hosting farm to table dinners at their restaurants, & offering special tasting EVENTS ata their grocery stores. join us this summer to celebrate the many unique tastes of appalachia! 


  • May 28:  Abingdon Farmers Market Cooking Demo – Chef Ben Carol from Rain at the Pavilion at Cummings St, Abingdon, VA 24210
  • May 31:  Farm to Table at Rain in Abingdon – Located in the heart of the Historic District in downtown Abingdon, Virginia, Rain Restaurant & Bar has been on the forefront of Abingdon’s dining scene since opening its doors in the fall of 2010.  Privately owned and operated by Owner/Executive Chef Ben Carroll, the restaurant’s primary goal is to deliver a high quality, well prepared meal while providing excellent service and southern hospitality to all of their guests. Rain will be offering a choice of seasonal, farm fresh dishes for guests to choose from. No reservations required.

  • June 18: Jonesborough Farmers Market Cooking Demo 10:00am – 12:00pm: Chef John Bryant from Gourmet & Co. will be at 105 Courthouse Square, Jonesborough, TN 37659. This event is Free and open to the public. 
  • June 23: Farm to Table at Gourmet & Co. in Johnson City 6:00pm: Family owned and operated for over 27 years in Johnson City, Tennessee, Gourmet and Company incorporates as much local produce as is seasonally possible in simple, elegant presentations. Providing daily specials with source information at the door, they have been a main stay in the dine local scene in our region. Chef John Bryant will be preparing a four course tasting menu featuring fresh local ingredients.  The tasting menu will be $60.  An optional wine pairing will be offered. Click here for more details and to see the full menu.

  • June 25: Kingsport Farmers Market Cooking Demo 10:00am – 12:00pm: Main Street Pizza Co. 

    Main Street Pizza will feature seasonal fare that they grow on their River Creek Farm and CSA.

  • June 30: Farm to Table at Main Street Pizza Co. in Kingsport 6:30pm: A great extravaganza is in the works, with a large farm to table dinner planned featuring fresh foods from their farm and CSA. Tickets will be $75 per person and reservations are required. Click here for more details.

  • July 13: In Store Tasting Event at Boone Street Market in Jonesborough 2:00pm – 6:00pm: Located in downtown Jonesborough, Boone Street Market, a community run non-profit, is our region’s first year-round indoor farmer’s market. All goods and produce are sourced within 100 miles, supporting local farmers and giving consumers the locally produced guarantee.   Boone Street will hold a Summer Grill Out Extravaganza, featuring three grilling stations, six local farmers, and lots of free samples!

  • July 16: Abingdon Farmers Market Cooking Demo 10:00am – 12:00pm: Chef Ryan Stipp of Studio Brew
    Location: The Pavilion at Cummings St, Abingdon, VA 24210. This event is Free and open to the public. 
  • July 19: Farm to Table at Studio Brew in Bristol 6:00pm – Bristol’s newest tapas and restaurant brewery, Studio Brew, has older roots as the first production brewery to be located in Sullivan County, Tennessee. The owners recently decided to take it to next level by relocating and opening up to the public. Their locally sourced menu includes many tapas choices and daily meal specials with beer and wine pairings all made in house.

  • August 6: Abingdon Farmers Market Cooking Demo 10:00am – 12:00pm: Mellow Mushroom
    Featuring Mellow Mushroom’s mobile pizza oven, pizzas will be topped by an array of fresh veggies purchased that morning at the market.

  • August 14: Farm to Table at Mellow Mushroom in Bristol 5:00pm – 9:00pm: This special tasting menu will feature the best of local summer veggies with an optional craft beer pairing.  Dinner items will include gazpacho, bruschetta, tomato cucumber salad, market fresh vegetarian pizza, and finish with berries and cream.  Please RSVP to the restaurant.
